Meeting Minutes

March 15, 2004

Present: Carol Seager, Matt Bechendorff, Melissa Manning, Josh Stuart, Mary Karten, James Owen, Amanda Thomas, and Dee Steinle.

The purpose of this meeting is to finish up with our information gathering process.

Identified /Suggested Systems

  • One page flyer of Student Success information sent to various departments for distribution
  • Staged communications reflecting altered needs
  • Student Success linked to department’s websites
    (no more than two clicks)
  • Smooth transitions “publication” – mount on a website

Websites/KU Portal – suggestions for use

  • Vertical (outside) & Horizontal (department – department)
  • Community tab – for Lawrence community services
    (Map of Lawrence & surrounding towns)
  • Blackboard – site to be used by the administration to communicate specifically with graduate/professional students
  • E-planner with automatic class schedules and auto reminders
  • For commuters – website with road conditions
  • Page on web to showcase their work
  • Finances & grades on the home page
  • Pay traffic tickets on lines
  • Explain offices
  • Links to jobs by major
  • Syllabus & transcripts on line

  • Housing needs – this area is not necessarily geared to graduate student. They would need to know the web page address, as it is not a direct link.
  • Most graduate students assume they are eligible for services, just not sure what those services are.
  • International students need information to get them acclimated to Lawrence & the campus
