Biographical Sketch
Dr. Kathryn Nemeth Tuttle received her undergraduate and doctoral degrees from the University of Kansas and her Master’s Degree in Library Science from Emporia State University.
After serving as Associate Director of Admissions, Director of New Student Orientation, Acting Director of Admissions, and Assistant to the Provost at KU, Dr. Tuttle was named Director of KU’s first Freshman-Sophomore Advising Center in 1997.
In addition to her work with advising, Dr. Tuttle is an adjunct faculty member with the School of Education, where she teaches the orientation seminar course for freshmen and graduate courses for students in the higher education master’s program. She also teaches an honors tutorial for students in the Honor’s Program. Her research interests are the history of higher education, the history of women in higher education, and the history of the University of Kansas. Her dissertation on the history of deans of women won the NASPA Dissertation of the Year Award.
Dr. Tuttle is married to Bill Tuttle, Professor of American Studies at KU, and she has three grown stepchildren and a son who recently graduated from KU.
