Biographical Sketch
Ruth Stoner is Budget and Personnel Administrator for Student Success. In this position she coordinates and manages the personnel policies and procedures for Student Success, assists the Student Success units with search processes to fill vacant positions, and serves as the liaison between Student Success offices and Human Resources Equal Opportunity regarding personnel issues.
Ruth’s professional journey began at Iowa State University where she received her B.S. in Mathematics & Spanish and her Master’s Degree in Student Personnel Services and took her to the University of South Florida at Tampa and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville before arriving at the University of Kansas in 1985. Prior to coming to the University of Kansas, she adapted her student personnel background toward academic student affairs and administration by serving as Academic Advisor (USF), Liberal Arts Health Careers Advising Center Director (UTK), Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the Liberal Arts College (UTK) and Pre-Medical Enrichment Program Director (UTK).
Ruth has worked at the University of Kansas for twenty-two years. She was the Assistant to the Dean of Students and Assistant Dean of Students before joining the staff of the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Success in the fall of 2003.
Ruth has been an active member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) for over 20 years. She has served on the NASPA IV-West Advisory Board as Assistant to the Regional Vice President and as the Region IV-West Historian for the last 10 years.
