Jason Hornberger jfh@ku.edu Jason Hornberger received a B.S. in Business Administration from Kansas State University, Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He also earned a Certified Public Accountant certificate from the State of Kansas Board of Accountancy. He spent ten years in various finance positions at Sprint-Nextel Corporation in Kansas City. For the past five years, Jason has been Assistant Director of Budget Management & Fiscal Services at the University of Kansas. While in the Budget Office, he was the primary liaison to Student Success in creating the annual operating budget. Jason looks forward to leveraging his finance and budget skills as Senior Budget and Personnel Administrator in Student Success. Jason enjoys volunteering for non-profit service organizations in Lawrence. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Lawrence class of 2006 and currently serves on the Brookcreek Learning Center Board of Directors. Jason is married to Jean Schrader (KU alum) and they have two young children, Lindsey and Luke. Michael Lynch Maestas, Ph.D. 785/864-2277 Dr. Michael Lynch Maestas was the first in his extended family to pursue post-secondary education. Born in the U.S. of Mexican immigrants and raised in Western Kansas, he received his bachelors degree in Psychology from McPherson College. His masters and doctoral degrees in Psychology were both earned at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He completed his APA accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Wichita Collaborative Psychology Internship Program in the Wichita State University Counseling and Testing Center and the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. A licensed psychologist, he began his professional career seven years ago at the University of Missouri-Columbia Counseling Center as a senior psychologist and adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology. Throughout that time, he has taken on more administratively focused roles and routinely taught graduate courses in psychopathology, clinical interviewing, and personality, intellectual and neuropsychological assessment. He continues to be active in a number of national professional organizations and publishes as demands allow. Other important professional and research interests of his include: U.S. ethnic minority issues; acculturation; ethnic identity development and retention; multicultural therapy and assessment competencies; supervision and training in professional psychology; and organizational change, consultation, and dynamics. He is passionate about the science and practice of psychology as well as organizational administration and leadership. As Director of CAPS, he looks forward to leading a vibrant group of multidisciplinary professionals in providing effective, relevant mental health services to KU students, continuing comprehensive training in mental health professions, and contributing to the mission of Student Success. On a more personal side, he is a weightlifting and muscle car fanatic. Outside of work, he can often be found in a weight room or playing with one of his cars. He also enjoys other activities such as reading science fiction, chaos/systems theory, or organizational dynamics; spending time with his family and cooking Mexican food; and, of course, closely following KU basketball.
Diana Robertson, Ph.D. drobertson@ku.edu Diana Robertson is an Iowa native who holds a bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista College in Management Science and English. She holds a master’s degree in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in Student Counseling and Personnel Services from Kansas State University. Diana served as Associate Director of Housing for Residence Life at the University of Kansas since 1999, and has served as Interim Director of Housing since February 2006.
Terese Thonus, Ph.D. 785/864-2399 Born in Colombia of American parents, Terese Thonus grew up in Europe, Asia and the Caribbean. She considers herself multicultural by heritage as well as by upbringing: Her grandparents immigrated to the U.S. from Mexico, England, and the Netherlands. She has seventeen years’ experience as an English as a second language teacher in Brazil, Thailand, and the U.S. After completing her PhD in Linguistics from Indiana University in 1998, she taught applied linguistics and composition at East Carolina University and California State University, Fresno. A second-language writing specialist, she has published on writing center talk, tutor training, and Generation 1.5 composition. As new director of the KU Writing Center, she looks forward to moving theory into practice and contributing to writing-across-the-curriculum initiatives at the Lawrence and Edwards campuses. She is fluent in Portuguese and is working hard to maintain her Spanish. Her hobbies include choral singing, swimming, and gardening. ![]() |
