COMMENCEMENT
Commencement is May 18, 2008. Graduates from summer 2007, fall 2007 and spring 2008 will be honored at that time as well as during various open houses and recognition ceremonies May 16th – 18th.

WITHDRAWING FROM A CLASS
Students who withdraw after February 7th will have the class recorded on their transcript with either the WP (Withdrawal Passing) or WF (Withdrawal Failing) indicator. This will be based upon their grade in the class at the time of withdrawal. The last day to drop or withdraw will be based on the 60th instructional day of class — this spring that date is April 17th. Students are no longer allowed to drop or withdraw after the 60th instructional day of class. TRANSFER CREDIT
Students often attend summer school classes away from KU. Many classes may transfer to KU. However, students must submit official transcripts of completed coursework before a final determination can be made. KU uses a Transfer Equivalency System called CredTran.
If a current KU student plans to take a course at an institution over the summer, the student can first check on CredTran to see if the course has already been evaluated. If the course is not listed on CredTran, the student can complete and submit the Request for Tentative Evaluation of Credit form through the Student Academic Services Office of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in Room 109 of Strong Hall. March is National Women’s History Month. Women have always played a key role in KU’s history. The first KU valedictorian was Flora Richardson and the current KU Student Body president is Hannah Love.

STUDENT BREAK SAFETY
KU’s spring break runs from March 17-23. While many students return home, work or even stay in Lawrence, others travel to destinations such as Cancun, South Padre Island or Miami. Because these trips frequently involve the combination of large crowds and alcohol, it is particularly important for students to be aware of their own safety and the safety of their friends.

ASK A LIBRARIAN
KU has an extensive library system. One of its features is the “Ask a Librarian” program. Students are not limited to in-person visits to the library to ask their questions. Librarians are available via instant message and email to help students with research or library related questions.

STUDENT SENATE ELECTIONS
 Student Senate is part of University Governance and acts as the voice for student concerns on many issues, representing the student's interests before the Administration of the University. Student Senate also administers revenue generated via a fee paid by all students at KU. This money is allocated for a myriad of purposes, ranging from the bus system (KU on Wheels), to the Student Fitness and Recreation Center, to events and funding for student organizations on campus.

ADVISING FOR FALL SEMESTER
Advising for the fall semester and summer term officially starts on March 28th. Students may call now to make their advising appointments. Students are asked to complete advising appointments prior to early May, although appointments are available after that date.
Generally, students see an advisor in the University Advising Center until they are certain of a major, accepted into a professional school, or until they reach 90 completed hours. Students admitted into the Honors Program or professional schools are advised by those academic units. Students generally cannot enroll without an advising appointment.
Students are asked to come prepared for the advising appointment with a copy of their ARTS form (www.artsform.ku.edu/) and a tentative list of courses they plan to take for summer (at KU or at another institution) and/or Fall 2008. The University Advising Center can provide requirement lists for the majors at KU. Enrollment preparation also includes checking their enrollment time and clearing any enrollment holds they may have at Enroll and Pay (https://sa.ku.edu/psp/saku/?cmd=login).
